As part of the One Book One Northwestern program, featuring the book Crying in H Mart, AHEAD invites you to join us for a special Korean food teaching event.Ji–Yeon Yuh is the instructor and chef. She is also an associate professor in History at Northwestern.
Date/Time: Thursday, May 9 from 5-6pm
Location: Parkes Hall, 1870 Sheridan Road.
We will assemble and prepare Palace Rice Cakes, which are extra thick rice noodles with beef and vegetables”, and we will also learn a tofu variation. This royal court dish dates back to the late 1800s, when commoners rarely had access to beef. Knowing how to make it is special in the US — this is rarely on a restaurant menu, and definitely in the repertoire of Seoul home cooks.
Space is limited to 15 people. We will have a waiting list in case folks drop out.
